HEI Facts is built and maintained by a small, independent team.

How we source

  1. Primary sources first. Laws come from legislatures and statute books, enforcement from attorneys general and regulators, market data from the CFPB, and provider availability from each provider's own site.
  2. Secondary sources are labeled. When a detail rests on a law firm analysis, a news report, or a review site, we say so next to it.
  3. Dated. Every page shows when we last checked it. Last full review: September 23, 2026.
  4. Corrections. Email hello@heifacts.com and we'll check and fix confirmed errors.

Independence

We don't sell home equity investments, and no provider pays for placement. HEI Facts is reference information, not legal, financial, or tax advice.
